Instructor: Roger L. Nutt 1 day
Who should attend:
Drilling and Production Managers, Drilling Engineers, Production Engineers, Completions Engineers, Petrophysicists, Technicians, and anyone who needs a basic understanding of the different methods of evaluating cement bonding.
About this course:
Cement bond logs can indicate free pipe when there is a perfect cement sheath around the casing. One cement bond tool can indicate excellent bonding when another shows no cement. There can be excellent cement placement around the casing - but there is a channel in the casing-formation annulus through which formation fluids can flow freely. The Cement Bond Log you are trying to interpret looks perfectly normal - but the CBL signal has nothing to do with the cement bonding. This course explains how these phenomena can occur, and what - if anything - you can do to prevent them.
Course Content:
What you will learn...
What micro-annulus is, how to avoid it, and how to tell the difference between a good cement bond survey and one which is useless. Why different cement evaluation tools can give contradictory answers; and why a well with a perfect cement job can leak through the casing-formation annulus.
